Policies for physically challenged customers:
We provide vehicles equipped with Hand Controls/Spinner Knobs at no extra charge for physically challenged customers. An advance notification of 24-72 hours is required. For customers with a hearing or speech disability who are inquiring about making a reservation, please contact our Internet Helpdesk at InternetHelpDesk@dollar.com Drivers for people with visual or physical disabilities who hold a valid driver's license and are at least 25 years of age may drive the rental car rented by the person for whom they are driving. Such drivers are additional drivers under the terms of the rental agreement. Additional Drivers must appear at the rental counter with the Primary Renter. Please note – while we can provide hand controls/spinner knobs on certain vehicles within our fleet, due to customer safety concerns and vehicle availability considerations, we cannot provide adaptive driving devices on every model or confirm a make or model for a reservation. Customers will need to bring their own disabled parking permit as we DO NOT provide an International Symbol of Accessibility Parking Permit or ISA.
Additional Drivers must appear at the rental counter with the Primary Renter, and must qualify with a valid driver's license in their own name. There may be charges for additional drivers, unless other contractual conditions apply.
After Hour Returns are allowed. Customers will return the vehicle to the rental car parking lot. Lock all doors, record the return date and time, mileage, and tank level on rental agreement jacket. Place keys and rental agreement in the drop box located at the rental counter. Remember to take your personal belongings with you. Location will e-mail copy of rental receipt. Customers who return after the rental location has closed are considered to still be in possession of the rental vehicle, and are therefore responsible for the vehicle until the rental location reopens and takes possession. Charges are final once the contract is closed the next morning.
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) and Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS) are offered at the time of rental. Additional charges apply. Acceptance of the Loss Damage Waiver relieves the renter and authorized additional drivers of responsibility for loss of, or damage to the rental car, when they comply with the terms and conditions listed on the rental agreement. All coverages are optional. If the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is declined, customers may be responsible for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle regardless of fault. If the Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS) is declined, any insurance that provides coverage to the Primary Renter or authorized Additional Driver will be primary.
Driving is restricted to the continental United States and Canada. Please advise the rental counter upon your arrival if you intend to cross the Canadian border and return to the renting location. When driving into Canada, you will need a copy of your rental agreement and must provide a valid passport. Vehicles rented in the United States may not be driven into Mexico without obtaining Mexico Insurance at the rental counter. Mexico Insurance provides a customer with liability and damage protection on the rental vehicle to be in compliance with Mexican law when visiting Mexico. Vehicles must be returned to the location from which they were rented, unless prior authorization has been given by the rental car company at the time of the reservation that the vehicle can be returned to a different location. No offroad driving is permitted.
Dollar Express Rewards service is available during the locations regular hours of operation. Dollar Express Members should proceed to the rental car to retrieve their rental agreement and the keys.
To qualify to rent a Dollar vehicle, the renter must present at the time of rental a valid driver’s license and valid major credit card or debit card (see Debit Card Usage below) in the renter's own name with available credit and funds. Non-prepaid Debit cards issued under a VISA, MasterCard or Discover logo which draw funds directly from the cardholder’s account may be used at the outset of a rental when the following requirements are met: Vehicle class reserved is Compact through Full-size ONLY, present two (2) valid forms of identification; and proof of a return travel ticket to coincide with the rental (airline/train/cruise). Debit cards are NOT accepted at the outset of a rental to qualify on Premium vehicles and above, including Convertibles. At the time of rental, an authorized hold will be secured on your credit/debit card provided to cover the estimated rental charges and any additional charges that may be incurred. These funds will not be available for your use for the duration of the rental. We will place an authorization amount of $200 for a Major Credit Card and (effective April 1st) $500 for a Debit Check Card, plus the cost of the rental. The above incremental hold will not be applied to established Express members with a VISA card in their profile. If Dollar cannot secure credit approval or funds for this amount and/or pro
